The driving force behind all of the activities of the Carlo Leone et Mariena Montandon Foundation is curiosity, seen as an essential pre-requisite for cultural development. The logo is the confirmation: stylised eyes looking in four directions represent a 360° vision. It is the objective of the Foundation to support projects, even those of small scale, which realise that often latent potential, just waiting for an opportunity or external support for it to become reality, to flower and expand. Projects already taken on, as with those still to be planned, contribute to the development not only of the people involved, but also - through them - of broad sections of society.

| ORIGIN |
| The foundation was set up in 1997 on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the death of Doctor Carlo Leone Montandon following the wishes of his daughter, Mariena Mondelli Montandon. In honour of the latter, who passed away 6 October 2003, the foundation adopted the name of “Foundation Carlo Leone et Mariena Montandon”. |
| The foundation is based in Sierre, in the Swiss canton of Vallese and is subject to Swiss law. |
| While aiming to address not only Switzerland, but all countries without distinction, the foundation maintains a privileged relationship with Italy, where both Dr. Montandon and his daughter Mariena lived and worked. |

| OBJECTIVES |
| The foundation aims to financially support cultural and educational initiatives both in Switzerland and abroad. In particular the foundation can award scholarships, finance educational projects both at an elementary and university level, fund existing or future study in the fields of philosophy, literature, science, art, and music, to name but a few. |
| The Carlo Leone et Mariena Montandon Foundation aims to follow, support and stimulate cultural projects of various types, preferring to focus on innovative programmes, without neglecting those of a more traditional nature (subsidisation of study of merit, donation of instruments for work, contribution to study, restoration of works of art etc.). |
| The directors of the Carlo Leone et Mariena Montandon Foundation aim to continue with their work of incentive and support which has brought so much satisfaction since the early years of operation. The enthusiasm, intelligence and altruism which was a hallmark of the actions and thoughts of Carlo Leone and Mariena Montandon act as tools for the work of the foundation following the death of its founder. |
